As soon as a theft is reported our In-house investigations unit are straight on the case. This time a Thwaites Hi Tip 1 ton dumper was reported stolen from a works site in Surrey. Utilising the latest location data an approximation of the general vicinity of the dumper was determined by our skilled investigations unit. With a search area established both CanTrack In-house investigators and the customer set off in pursuit of the dumper. Once they arrived in the approximate location, they were able to start looking for potential vans that could be hiding the dumper.
Hiding smaller stolen Plant machinery in commercial vans to cool off is a regular trick of thieves.
The first van seen stood out as a possibility.
- Sitting low on its suspension.
- Poor used condition, but with brand new number plates.
As the van had been left unlocked, finding the missing Plant proved easy for our CanTrack Investigators. Surrey Police were able to establish that the van was stolen and took it away for forensic examination. Our very happy customer was able to recover their stolen dumper and continue their working day.
